Serving the Kerr Village community
Kerr Village is one of Oakville's most distinctive urban neighbourhoods, centred along Kerr Street in the south end of the city. Unlike the newer planned subdivisions that define much of Oakville's suburban growth, Kerr Village has the character of an established urban village — independent shops, cafés, and small businesses line Kerr Street, giving the area a walkable, community-oriented feel that has attracted long-term residents and small business owners for decades.
The neighbourhood draws a notably mixed demographic: long-established older residents who have lived in these homes for generations sit alongside younger families and professionals attracted by the neighbourhood's distinct character. This mix means the physiotherapy needs in Kerr Village are equally varied — from age-related mobility challenges, osteoporosis management, and fall prevention for older residents, to MSK and postural conditions for the working-age population who spend long hours at desks or on their feet.
Kerr Village is one of the closest Oakville neighbourhoods to RCP Health — the clinic at 700 Dorval Drive is approximately 5 minutes away, east along Speers Road to Dorval Drive. Whether you are an older adult managing a chronic condition, a working professional dealing with persistent neck or back pain, or a new resident seeking a trusted provider nearby, our registered physiotherapy team is close by and ready to help — without a referral.
First Visit
What to Expect at Your First Physiotherapy Assessment
60 minutes, one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist (no assistants).
The exact assessment techniques and tests used will vary based on your specific condition, history, and presentation — this is a general guide to what your first visit typically involves.
What we'll do
- A detailed conversation about your injury — when it happened, what caused it, and how it's affecting you now
- A detailed assessment of your condition including functional movement screening, strength and flexibility testing, and a postural evaluation relevant to your specific complaint
- A functional movement assessment to see how the injury is affecting your walking, lifting, or sport-specific movements
- A clear explanation of your diagnosis, grade of injury, and a review of any imaging you've had
- A rehabilitation plan tailored to your goals, with realistic timelines for return to work, sport, or daily activity
- Your first treatment — typically hands-on manual therapy and the initial exercises to start your recovery
- A home exercise programme you can do between visits, demonstrated in-clinic with written instructions to take home
What to bring
- Comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the injured area
- Any imaging reports you have — X-ray, MRI, or ultrasound
- Your insurance details if you'd like us to direct bill
- A list of any current medications
What to expect after
- Some mild soreness in the day or two after your first session is normal — it usually settles quickly
- You'll leave with a clear understanding of your recovery timeline and the next steps
- Direct contact with your physiotherapist between sessions if you have questions or concerns
