The tools we use to help you recover faster
At RCP Health, our registered physiotherapists draw on 13+ evidence-based techniques tailored to your condition and goals. No guesswork. Just clinical precision.
Our approach
Techniques vs. conditions — what’s the difference?
A condition is what brings you in. A technique is how we treat it. Your physiotherapist selects the right combination after a thorough assessment — never one-size-fits-all.
Condition-specific
Every technique is chosen after assessment — matched to your diagnosis, pain level, and functional goals.
Often combined
Most treatment plans use 2–4 techniques together for faster, more lasting results than any single approach.
Evidence-based
All techniques are clinically validated and performed exclusively by regulated, registered practitioners.
Reassessed regularly
Your plan evolves as you progress — techniques are adjusted at each visit based on your response to treatment.

What to expect
How a treatment session works
Initial assessment
Your physiotherapist reviews your health history, performs a physical assessment, and identifies which techniques are appropriate for your presentation and goals.
Technique selection & treatment
2–4 techniques are applied in sequence — hands-on work first, then modalities such as ultrasound or laser, then therapeutic exercise to reinforce the gains made.
Home program
You leave with targeted exercises and self-care strategies to extend the effect of in-clinic treatment between sessions and accelerate your recovery.
Reassessment & progression
Your plan is updated at each visit based on your response — techniques are added, removed, or intensified as you improve and new goals emerge.

FAQ
Common questions
Is dry needling painful?
You may feel a brief muscle twitch or ache during needle insertion — this is normal and short-lived. Most patients tolerate it very well after the first session.
Can multiple techniques be used in the same session?
Yes — a typical session combines 2-4 techniques. For example, joint mobilization followed by therapeutic ultrasound and a targeted home exercise program.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies by condition and severity. Acute injuries often resolve in 4-6 sessions; chronic conditions may take longer. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic timeline at your initial assessment.
Are physiotherapy techniques covered by OHIP?
Physiotherapy is not covered by OHIP for most adults. However, most extended health benefit plans cover a significant portion - and we direct bill on your behalf so you pay nothing upfront in most cases.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No referral is required to book at RCP Health. You can book directly online or by phone.
How do I know which technique is right for me?
Your physiotherapist selects techniques based on a thorough assessment of your condition, history, and goals. You do not need to know in advance - that is our job.
Not sure which technique is right for you?
Book an assessment and let our physiotherapists build a treatment plan around your specific condition, history, and goals. Same-week appointments available.
