Serving the Old Oakville community
Old Oakville is the historic heart of the city — the neighbourhood that predates the postwar suburban expansion and retains the architectural character and community identity that have long defined Oakville's reputation as one of the most desirable communities in Ontario. Centred along Lakeshore Road East, Navy Street, and the harbourfront, Old Oakville is characterized by heritage homes, independent boutiques, fine dining, and the waterfront that draws residents and visitors throughout the year.
Residents of Old Oakville tend to be established, health-conscious, and accustomed to personalized professional service. The active lifestyle encouraged by the waterfront — sailing, cycling along the Waterfront Trail, year-round walking along the lake — means musculoskeletal conditions, sports-related injuries, and age-related mobility concerns are common physiotherapy presentations from this community. Expectations for quality and one-on-one attention are high, and rightly so.
RCP Health is approximately 8 minutes from Old Oakville — west along Lakeshore Road East to Dorval Drive, turning north to 700 Dorval Drive. Our registered physiotherapy team provides the calibre of individualized, evidence-based care that Old Oakville residents expect: every assessment and treatment session with a registered physiotherapist, direct contact with your clinician throughout your recovery, and a clear treatment plan from your very first visit.
First Visit
What to Expect at Your First Physiotherapy Assessment
60 minutes, one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist (no assistants).
The exact assessment techniques and tests used will vary based on your specific condition, history, and presentation — this is a general guide to what your first visit typically involves.
What we'll do
- A detailed conversation about your injury — when it happened, what caused it, and how it's affecting you now
- A comprehensive clinical assessment tailored to your specific condition — including detailed history, functional movement analysis, and any relevant orthopaedic or neurological testing
- A functional movement assessment to see how the injury is affecting your walking, lifting, or sport-specific movements
- A clear explanation of your diagnosis, grade of injury, and a review of any imaging you've had
- A rehabilitation plan tailored to your goals, with realistic timelines for return to work, sport, or daily activity
- Your first treatment — typically hands-on manual therapy and the initial exercises to start your recovery
- A home exercise programme you can do between visits, demonstrated in-clinic with written instructions to take home
What to bring
- Comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the injured area
- Any imaging reports you have — X-ray, MRI, or ultrasound
- Your insurance details if you'd like us to direct bill
- A list of any current medications
What to expect after
- Some mild soreness in the day or two after your first session is normal — it usually settles quickly
- You'll leave with a clear understanding of your recovery timeline and the next steps
- Direct contact with your physiotherapist between sessions if you have questions or concerns
Registered practitioners, every time
Every assessment and treatment at RCP Health is conducted by a registered physiotherapist — never an assistant, student, or kinesiologist working unsupervised.
